Always try your local bank first because they dont charge all these crazy fees. Plus since you already bank with them, they sometimes can offer you incentives, like lower rates as long as they can debit it out of your acct. Lending Tree sends your application out to 5-6 different banks but then they these different places have to run your credit so it becomes too many inquires.
